Hosts and Format

• Hosts: The tournament will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
• Dates: The World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
• Expanded Format: This will be the first 48-team World Cup, expanding from the previous 32.
  • The teams will be divided into 12 groups of four teams each.
  • The top two from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will advance to a new Round of 32.

  • The total number of matches will increase from 64 to 104.

    Key Venues:

    • The Opening Match will be held at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
    • The Final will be played at the MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey.
    • All matches from the Quarter-Finals onwards will be held in the United States.
